Who I am:

Amber James is an educator, writer, advocate and organizer. She has served in a variety of positions in public education since 2005, including as an administrator in three of the five largest districts in Texas. In addition to her work as an educator, she has organized numerous humanitarian trips to the border region to provide food, water, and support to people in need. She has additionally served as a volunteer for humanitarian organizations, providing guidance and support.

James has also worked closely with authors, writers and poets in publishing their work, and partnered with small publishing presses to support the publication of a number of works. She has additionally served as editorial support with various literary magazines across the country.

James is the co-founder, co-producer, and organizer of the Fearless, Strange and Magnificent Literary art show in El Paso, which yearly features approximately 50 female authors, artists and artisans and celebrates the contributions of their work to the border region in West Texas.

As a life-long learner, James holds three master’s degrees, is ABD in a doctoral degree in English and is the final stretch of a Phd in Teaching, Learning and Culture. James is currently teaching herself to use PowerBI, to code in Python, and to use other analytic tools. For more on her learning endeavors, check out her bolog on this page!
